Howdy!
My name is Christy! Born and raised in Wisconsin, I was an artsy child who loved to draw and sing; but I never performed in front of an audience until I moved to Florida in 5th grade where I did my first ever musical, Aladdin. In grade school, I joined various choirs and a cappella groups, and ended up going all the way to the All-State Choirs and competing at District/State Thespians. I learned how to sight-read, write scripts, edit videos, arrange/record music, and even taught myself to beatbox (goin’ on year 7 now)!
Though I had lots of fun performing, I did not see a space for myself within the performing arts until I saw Diana Huey as Ariel, in The Little Mermaid Broadway tour, and it changed my life. I finally saw myself in musical theatre, in a character I felt represented me, and I pivoted to pursuing performing because it shouldn’t have taken this long to finally see myself properly represented. I wanted to bring more representation like that.
I chose go to Pace University’s Musical Theater program, and am completing my training here with the best professors and peers I could’ve asked for. Between watching my classmates grow, experimenting on my own, and opportunities such as A Night of Color, I have gotten to experience so much community, humanity, and artistry. When I am not working on theatre, you can usually find me working on a cappella demos/choreography, coaching young beatboxers, exploring cool food spots, video editing, and drawing!
Thanks for taking the time to check me out!
